If you are trying out for Feature Twirler or Field Guard tomorrow (May 11), please note that the annual “Miles for Moffitt” races are being held and most of the streets on campus will be closed in the morning.
You will need to enter the campus from Fletcher Avenue by turning onto USF Palm Drive. Once on campus turn right at the first light onto USF Laurel Drive. Follow it to the Laural Parking Garage. After parking you will have to walk across USF Holly Drive W. (crossing the race route) to get to the School of Music building.
You might want to give yourself a few extra minutes as well.

Location: USF School of Music, Instrumental Rehearsal Hall (IRH).
Attire: Please dress for outside weather. No baggy clothes.
Time: Feature Twirler auditions: 8am-10am | Color Guard auditions: 10am-4pm
Auditions will consist of flag warm ups (drop spins, overhand spins, carves, tosses.), an on the spot flag routine and dance routine will be taught. If you are interested in weapon you may bring your own weapon but the audition will be determined by flag and dance only. Flags will be provided at the auditions. Paper work will be filled out when you arrive at the auditions, please show up a few minutes early to fill it out. We look forward to seeing you!
The Herd of Thunder Marching Band will be holding Drum Line auditions for the Fall 2013 season on the following dates:
- Saturday, May 25
- Saturday, June 22
- Saturday, July 27
All camps are from 3pm to 7pm at Fowler Field (Tampa Campus – corner of USF Bull Run Drive and USF Alumni Drive). Directions can be found by clicking here.
Plan to attend at least 2 of the 3 camps to be considered for a position, or contact us about setting up a video audition! ALL THREE CAMPS ARE HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

The USF Drum Line fields up to 10 snares, 6 tenors, 6 bass drums, and 10 cymbals (sorry, no front ensemble)! We proudly use Yamaha drums, Vic Firth sticks, Remo heads, and Sabian cymbals!

Auditions for the 2013 USF Winterguard program will be held September 23rd from 10:00am – 6:00pm at the University Area Community Developement Center located at 14013 N 22nd Street, Tampa, FL 33613. If you are going to be living on campus (USF-Tampa) in the fall, you will be able to move into the Residence Halls the morning of HOT Band Camp registration – Sunday, August 19, 2012. Fees associated with moving in early are the responsibility of the student. Fees will be added to your room and board fees for the semester. THE HERD OF THUNDER DOES NOT REIMBURSE THESE COSTS!
